I love willow trees. When I see a healthy specimen on a riverbank, especially on a hot summer’s day, somehow it makes me feel cooler and more tranquil – a bit like an oasis in the desert I guess. 

This thought brings to mind the first three verses of Psalm 1, “Oh, the joys of those who do not follow the advice of the wicked, or stand around with sinners, or join in with mockers.  But they delight in the law of the Lord, meditating on it day and night.   They are like trees planted along the riverbank, bearing fruit each season.  Their leaves never wither, and they prosper in all they do.”  I know it doesn’t say willow tree, that’s just what comes to my mind.  But it does say if you have God constantly in your life that you can be spiritually healthy and at peace.
