Advice to a friend
Several weeks ago some of us had a discussion class. ‘Us’ is the Norwood Christadelphians who produce this blog. We considered the question, “if you could say one short thing to a good friend what would it be?” Here’s some of what we came up with. We found it useful - our hope is that you do too.
Matthew 6:34 says "Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own." (NIV) This is a source of great assurance. It’s good for us to listen to the message here - don't worry too much about tomorrow.
Deuteronomy 31:6 tells us to be brave and courageous in all that we face. “Be Strong and courageous. Do not be afraid or terrified […] for the Lord your God goes with you; he will never leave you or forsake you.” (NIV)
From 1 Corinthians 15:33 “Do not be misled: ‘Bad company corrupts good character.’” (NIV) A bad crowd corrupts good character.
Never underestimate the power of prayer. James 5:17-18 says, “Elijah was a human being, even as we are. He prayed earnestly that it would not rain, and it did not rain on the land for three and a half years. Again he prayed, and the heavens gave rain, and the earth produced its crops.” (NIV) If we have a problem, pray.
The only thing that can stop you getting baptised is you.
From Ecclesiastes 12:1 “Don’t let the excitement of youth cause you to forget your Creator. Honour him in your youth before you grow old and say, “Life is not pleasant anymore.” (NLT)
There are two wolves in each of us. One tends to do good and the other to do evil. The one who wins is the one you feed.
“Do to others as you would have them do to you.” Luke 6:31 (NIV) then most of them will!
Find a reason for your life - for being you - look for your purpose.
