God's time

God’s timing > our timing!

“Humble yourselves, therefore, under Gods mighty hand, that he may lift you up in due time” (1 Peter 5:6, NIV)

One of the many comforts of modern life is our ability to indulge our impatience. We’re more than happy to pay for the convenience of fast food and express shipping, but not everything in life can be purchased instantly, and occasionally we have to wait for opportunities, relationships, or experiences. So it’s no surprise when we struggle to be patient in these moments.

It can be frustrating when you feel like something isn’t happening for you, or when your plans aren’t working out exactly as you’d hoped. If you have faith in God, consider these moments an opportunity to exhibit that faith and practice patience. If something is going to happen for you, it’ll happen in God’s time, not your time.

“In their hearts humans plan their course, but the Lord establishes their steps.” (Proverbs 16:9, NIV)

As humans, we can’t see the bigger picture of how our life will turn out. Only God has this kind of perspective. If we have faith that God knows what’s best for us, it’ll make our waiting far more endurable. Allowing patience to strengthen us will only ever bring us closer to God, and help us to be less fearful and more resilient when we feel like life isn’t going to plan.
