At the end of my last blog about promises, we learnt that God wants us to believe in His son, Jesus Christ. And this requires us to have faith, doesn't it. This then brings us full circle to where we started, which was thinking about trust!

And for me, if I am going to believe in something, I need to understand it. I need to know a bit about it.

Trusting in God, and His Son, Jesus Christ, is just the same. The Bible shows that believing requires you to understand what the Bible is about — to know a bit about what God is telling us in this book.

So, the best thing you can do is read it for yourself. Don't just take my word for it!

But here's a bit of a heads up. This is what you might learn from the Bible… 

• God has a plan and a purpose for everything that we know of in our existence. He has promised that in the Bible!

• It's a plan that involves Him calling out a people to fulfil His purpose, and eventually use this world that He has made, to it's full and wonderful potential.

• It's a plan that still has great things to come. Things which include a peaceful earth with a righteous and perfect government and kingdom. This is the message of the Gospel in the Bible.

• God would like nothing better than that everyone is a part of these promises, a part of what the Gospel offers.

God tells us in the Bible that if we want to be a part of these great promises we need to believe and be baptised.

So, if you want to know more, go and search the Bible. Explore what the promises to Abraham are all about. Read Galatians 3:26-29 and research it. Do a search about the Gospel in the Bible. Read Mark 16:15-16 and then compare that to Acts 8:12.

I have talked a fair bit about promises in these 3 blogs, and the key promises are:

• There is no uncertainty with God and His word.

• If you draw near to God He will draw near to you.

• God does have a plan for this world, and we are not without hope, if we decide to truly put our trust in Him.
