I rang a friend recently. He talked to me about a verse in God’s Bible that says to tell the truth to each other. He reflected on how wonderful the world will be when that happens universally. Because it will happen if you believe (as I do) that Jesus will come back and set up God’s kingdom. Here is a passage from the Bible that talks about telling the truth… and more. 

“But this is what you must do: Tell the truth to each other…don’t scheme against each other. Stop your love of telling lies that you swear are the truth. I hate all these things, says the LORD.” (Zechariah 8:16-17, NLT)

There is a lot in those few words. Sadly, I think it’s fair to say that in our lives we see a great deal more scheming against each other and telling lies, than we do people telling the truth to each other. It’s everywhere, from the rarified world of politics to the men and women on the street. But God’s view is starkly clear. He hates lying and the things associated with it. 

How much better our world would be if we simply told the truth to each other. Well you and I can start right now. We don’t have to wait for a better world to come. We can improve our life now, which pleases our Creator – a great combination.
