Recently my desk calendar had the following question written on it: “Are you the sort of person who lights up a room when you walk in, or when you walk out?”

I don’t think any of us want to be in the second category, but it did make me think – what makes a person popular, so people are pleased to see them when they walk into the room?

If you follow the link you can listen to some of his thoughts. Essentially what he says, is people who are not aggressive and are willing to listen to and take interest in others are generally the most popular.

If we think about how God wants us to live (which we find in the bible), it aligns perfectly with these thoughts. Jesus teaches that we should love one another and be prepared to help each other.

The Apostle Paul wrote the following: “Don’t be selfish; don’t try to impress others. Be humble, thinking of others as better than yourselves.” (Philippians 2:3, NLT)

It’s surprising how much relevant practical advice the Bible has for how we live today, as well as what we can look forward to in the future. It’s definitely worth a read!
