Like a baby in the arms of a parent
In Bible times king David said, “Put me on trial, Lord, and cross-examine me. Test my motives and my heart. For I am always aware of your unfailing love, and I have lived according to your truth.” (Psalm 26:2-3 NLT)
That word truth means stability, certainty, trustworthiness; and it comes from a root word meaning to find stability and confidence like a baby would in the arms of a parent. That’s really interesting - the concept of living according to the stability and confidence that comes from God. The phrase ‘living according to God’s truth’ is used to mean conducting your life according to God’s standards, or put simply, “trying to be good”.
That extra meaning behind the word truth there is like David saying,“I am motivated by the stability and confidence I have in you and your lovingkindness to try to live how you want me to.” Just like a baby in the arms of a loving parent.
What a wonderful feeling to be loved by God. And God has more than enough love for all of us.
If you want to know more it’s all there in the Bible waiting for you.
