This book

I'm not sure how many books (with over 750 000 words in them) can claim to have been translated, as a complete work, into over 500 languages; and had many millions of copies printed and distributed throughout the world.

The Bible is certainly one of a very few (if not the only one) in this category. So immediately it is something quite unique. And its very make up is pretty interesting to think about too.

It is a book which is in fact made up as a compilation of 66 books, as we have it today. These were written by upwards of 40 different people, who lived across a time frame spanning over 1,600 years, from approx 1500BC to 100AD. And then there are the people who wrote them -  people from very diverse occupational backgrounds, and with all sorts of characteristics.

But for me, the MOST fascinating thing about the Bible is that, even for all the diversity that is such an integral part of its make up, there is a beautiful consistency in the Bible from start to finish.

And when you make the effort to read the Bible (and maybe just read one book at a time!) and begin to learn and understand what it is about, sooner or later you will find this common theme that weaves it's way through all of the book as a whole. In some parts it is obvious, and in other parts it is quite subtle. But the underlying message is never lost, and remains consistent.

If you want to accept the challenge of finding it for yourself, then maybe you should stop reading this blog now, and get on with your Bible reading straight away!

The message throughout the Bible is simple: God has a plan and purpose for this earth and all mankind upon it, and that plan is not only still playing out, but offers great things to anyone who is willing to read God’s Bible, understand its message, and act on it.

Would you like to know what God's plan is?
