The end of fear

The world is slowly being brought to its knees by a virus. Even though international travel has been greatly reduced, the COVID-19 coronavirus is still slowly but surely spreading. The effect on the global economy has been catastrophic – shareholders have been selling off company shares in a panic for fear of making losses. In one day the Australian share market dropped AUD140 billion! Tourism has been smashed and small businesses who benefit from this are on the brink of closing, or at least laying off employees. Retirees who live off superannuation payments are watching their life savings dwindle away.

Locally, people are panic buying. Supermarket shelves have been stripped bare and vision has been shared of people fighting over toilet paper! Economic experts are now talking about a recession in Australia and no doubt there are similar concerns in other countries.

We’re all wondering how in this day and age, things can get so bad, so quickly.

Jesus talked in the Bible about a time when things would get very scary on the earth. The actual passage is found in Luke 21:25-26, where Jesus describes “everyone all over the world in a panic.” But he follows that up with some good news; “When all this starts to happen, up on your feet. Stand tall with your heads high. Help is on the way!” (The Message)

God is not going to let the world fall in a heap – He’s sending His son to fix all the problems and bring happiness and peace. You can be part of the solution – the Bible tells you how.
