The choice
“This is what God the LORD says—the Creator of the heavens, who stretches them out,
who spreads out the earth with all that springs from it, who gives breath to its people,
and life to those who walk on it:” (Isaiah 42:5, NIV)
This is just one of many bible verses where God tells us that he created everything and that every breath we take comes from him. Given how many people don’t believe in God at all, there’s a certain irony to the second part!
The verse makes an all-encompassing claim doesn’t it! It seems to me there are only two possibilities: the claim is either true or false.
I choose to believe it’s true. Although this requires faith, it is not as some people suppose a position that is not evidence based. It looks at the evidence available and draws the reasonable conclusion that there is a God. And that He has described Himself in the bible.
The consequences of my position include the need to believe in the rest of the Bible and to do my best to live accordingly. God’s plan is to fill the earth with His glory, which will include people who believe the Bible and live this belief.
But it’s a choice. I’ve told you my choice. I really hope that it will be yours as well.
