All you need is love
When the Beatles wrote the song “All you need is Love” (1967), they were knowingly or unknowingly echoing the sentiments of Jesus, expressed almost 2000 years earlier.
When Jesus was asked which was the greatest commandment he said, “‘You must love the Lord your God with all your heart, all your soul, and all your mind.’ This is the first and greatest commandment. A second is equally important: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’” Matthew 22v37-39 (NLT)
Unfortunately, there’s not a whole lot of love flying around our world at the moment. The latest humanitarian disaster being brought to our attention is close to 2 million men, women and children starving in Tigray (Northern Ethiopia).
This is a man-made disaster, nothing to do with failed crops or drought etc. This is men, greedy for power and wealth, fighting each other – and the ordinary people are, quite frankly, collateral damage.
Sadly, this is not the first time we’ve heard a story like this, is it? They just keep coming up time after time – and we (the world) seem powerless to stop it.
Even if you don’t believe in God, surely following Jesus’ advice would help?
Well, the bible tells us that God is going to send Jesus back to earth to make sure His commands are followed, and that will, at long last, stop all these horror stories. Please check this out for yourself.
