Reflections

There is a little anecdote that has stuck with me over the years. The story of two dogs. Two dogs walk into one room at separate times. The first dog comes out growling, teeth bared and hair raised. The second dog comes out with a happy tongue-out grin, wagging his tail.

A woman who saw what happened was intrigued, what could have made one dog so happy, and the other so angry? To her surprise she finds a room full of mirrors. The happy dog found a room full of a thousand happy dogs. The angry dog saw only angry dogs growling back at him.

The anecdote illustrates that what we see in the world, is a reflection of ourselves. The attitude and the vibe that you put out into the world is reflected back to you.

The Bible says, “Like water reflects a face, so a man’s heart reflects the man.” (Proverbs 27:19, WEB). As Christians we try to share our hope with the world, “Neither do people light a lamp and put it under a bowl. Instead they put it on a stand, and it gives light to everyone in the house. In the same way let your light shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven.” (Matt 5:15-16, NIV)

Let’s all try to be more like the happy dog and share our light with the world.
