A faulty system

A relative of mine once said in a bible-based talk that we live in a faulty system.

This thought was reinforced quite powerfully for me recently when I heard that an employee of Centrelink had been stabbed and critically injured by one of her clients. You can read the story here: https://www.news.com.au/finance/work/at-work/centrelink-worker-laid-in-a-pool-of-blood-for-25-minutes-after-horror-stabbing/news-story/9488040bc36689e911864d9b42e1e962

Typically, we look to allocate blame when something like this happens. At first glance, the person wielding the knife is at fault. It was indeed an horrendous act, but if we look a bit further into the story, we find this person has a history of mental illness. It wouldn’t be surprising to find that he was struggling to make ends meet (like a lot of people) and with his health problems easily becomes extremely frustrated and unstable.

If you follow all the threads on this story, the perpetrator, the government and even the victim come in for some criticism, from armchair commentators.

Now we all might think we could come up with improvements to the system, and possibly we could. But the bottom line is, with all the best intentions in the world, the system is not perfect. Somebody always misses out. And this will always be the case while humans are in charge.

But God has promised that He won’t leave things this way for ever. He is going to send His son Jesus back to the earth, to provide a faultless system.

The bible tells us: “Of the greatness of his government and peace there will be no end. He will reign on David’s throne and over his kingdom, establishing and upholding it with justice and righteousness from that time on and forever. The zeal of the Lord Almighty will accomplish this.” (Isaiah 9:7, NIV)

There’s a lot more information to be found on this subject if you open your bible!
