Lost

Do you remember that TV show called Lost? It was the one where the passenger plane crashed on some deserted, off the charts island and the survivors were forced to work together in order to survive. I can’t remember a huge amount of detail apart from the initial episodes, where the survivors were confused, disoriented, and extremely unsure of their situation, (where they were etc.) or what they needed to do next!

It made for very dramatic viewing and as I recall, it took several episodes for the people involved to actually realise that they were well and truly lost, with virtually no hope of discovery or rescue – they had to understand that no one would be coming to save them. The show (as you can imagine) spun off in all directions from there!

Have you ever felt ‘lost’?

For many of us, we probably don’t even realise that we are lost – what we feel might be some confusion, fear, dissatisfaction, maybe some hopelessness (amongst many other things)? The chances are that if you feel, or have felt this way, you might be a bit lost and possibly not even known it.

I mentioned hopelessness just before. We are much less likely to be (or to feel) lost if we have some sort of hope in our life.

For most of us, ‘hope’ of any sort tends to provide a bit of direction, stability and comfort, like the old fashioned lighthouses used to for those at sea.

The Bible says, “Give your burdens to the LORD, and he will take care of you. He will not permit the Godly to slip and fall.” (Psalm 55:22, NLT)

What this means is that there is an amazing hope offered to anyone who can be bothered to look in the Bible – as well as that, the verse above tells us that if we turn to God, he will help us and guide us, not only when we feel ‘lost’, but always.

If this is of any interest to you at all, you owe it to yourself to at least check it out by reading the Bible – who knows, it might just change your life!
