A Sure Plan

So many people rely on a life plan, a day plan, a week plan. They see the importance of this in helping them reach goals and to stick to routines, as a method of being prepared for unforeseen scenarios or just an insurance policy for life in general. Despite the effort people put into making all these plans, so many people seem to have failed to see the only true plan for the entire world. The one that really matters!

That plan is God’s plan, and it’s the only plan we need. Here’s an illustration I find helpful. If for a moment we imagine ourselves as a boat floating on the sea, being blown around from every side, taking in water, half sinking, and then imagine God’s plan as our keel. The keel prevents the boat from being blown sideways by the wind, and it holds the ballast that keeps the boat right-side up. If our keel is following God’s plan, then everything else will fall into place.

When you look at it like this you can see that our only sure plan is from God. He says,

‘“For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the LORD, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.’”  (Jeremiah 29:11, NIV)

What else do we need? And there’s so much more in His Bible.
