Flowers
You look at a vase of flowers with the morning sun shining on them. They look so appealing; the colours, the shapes, the beauty in the combinations. They are in full bloom and you appreciate them all the more because you know they won’t last. The flowers will whither and die and need to be replaced. It’s one of the wonders of God’s creation that they can be so easily replaced from the garden which constantly replenishes its store of flowers.
When I see a vase of flowers, I sometimes think on these verses from God‘s Bible:
“And why worry about your clothing? Look at the lilies of the field and how they grow. They don’t work or make their clothing, yet Solomon in all his glory was not dressed as beautifully as they are. And if God cares so wonderfully for wildflowers that are here today and thrown into the fire tomorrow, he will certainly care for you. Why do you have so little faith? So don’t worry about these things, saying, ‘What will we eat? What will we drink? What will we wear?’ These things dominate the thoughts of unbelievers, but your heavenly Father already knows all your needs. Seek the Kingdom of God above all else, and live righteously, and he will give you everything you need.” (Matthew 6:28-33 NLT)
There’s a lot in those few verses and it’s stated so clearly it speaks for itself!
And there’s so much more to read, enjoy, think on and use in our lives now, in God’s Bible.
And then there’s the Kingdom of God to come. Forever.
