Why do I care about this stuff?

I woke up one day with this thought – why do I care about this stuff?

It’s an interesting question. At first sight it seems to show selfishness. Perhaps it’s a summary of a ‘me’ mindset.

I did think though, that you can use this question as a pretty good filter to determine how you feel about a wide range of things. If, like me, you are prone to getting upset about trivial things, asking the question ‘Why do I care about this stuff?’ can provide some clarity. It can make it clear that I shouldn’t – care - that is.

There is another side to this question though. Asking it about the serious things in life may give the same answer. But should it? I/we need to give serious matters more thought. We might care a great deal or perhaps we should care a great deal. Perhaps then the question should be ‘Should I care about this stuff?’

All in all a versatile and useful question. Think about it keeping these verses from God’s Bible in mind.

“… Here now is my final conclusion: Fear God and obey his commands, for this is everyone's duty.” (Ecclesiastes 12:13 NLT)

“Seek the Kingdom of God above all else, and live righteously, and he will give you everything you need. So dont worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will bring its own worries. Todays trouble is enough for today.” (Matthew 6:33-34 NLT)

That’s how to live life now. There’s so much more though in God’s Bible. Not only about how to live now but about what lies ahead when Jesus returns. All we have to do is read it, and live it, to the best of our ability.

God will look after the rest.
