Potter and clay

Clay in the hands of the potter. Have you ever watched a potter working at their wheel?

The piece of clay they start with doesn't usually look like anything special, not to me anyway.

But pretty quickly it becomes obvious that the potter sees it very differently.

The potter sees something with many possibilities.

The Bible uses this same example of a potter and the clay, and reveals that this is very much how God looks at all of us. In the book of Isaiah we read,

"Yet you, Lord, are our Father. We are the clay, you are the potter; we are all the work of your hand." Isa 64:8 (NIV)

The message is that God is the ultimate potter, and we are all like clay in His hands.

It's a message all through the Bible, and teaches that God is ultimately in control, that God will  mould and shape us to reflect His glory if we are willing, and that God asks us to put all our trust in Him, even when it's hard for us to see past the turmoil all around us. The message is there in the Bible.

Why not read it for yourself?
