Jesus wept

“Jesus wept.” John 11:35 (NKJV)

This is the shortest verse in the Bible – yet it shows us the depth of Jesus’ empathy and love for his friends when we look at the story leading up to it.

Only a short time after this, Jesus again confirmed how he felt about a commitment to friends: “There is no greater love than to lay down one’s life for one’s friends.” John 15:13 (NLT) Those were prophetic words, because a short time after that, Jesus allowed himself to be crucified – a hideous and humiliating death.

We might ask, ‘what was it all for?!’

The Bible describes it this way: “For God made Christ, who never sinned, to be the offering for our sin, so that we could be made right with God through Christ.” 2 Corinthians 5:21 (NLT)

Jesus paid the debt that we owe God. It’s up to you whether you believe in God and Jesus – if you want to be counted as Jesus’ friend. If you do, then wonderful things lie ahead. The information is right there in your Bible.
