Fear not

I think it’s fair to say there’s a lot of fear in our world right now. Wars, climate change, cost of living and crime are just a few of the things contributing to our worries.

Donald Trump is again president of the USA and there’s a lot of uncertainty about decisions he might make that will potentially have negative impacts on us all.

The war in the Middle East has caused a rise in antisemitic feeling, and this has been reflected in Australia recently by attacks against Jewish synagogues. Some commentators have suggested the current situation is reminiscent of feelings just prior to the rise of Nazi Germany.

The phrases ‘fear not’ and ‘be not afraid’ appear in the Bible over 130 times. These words are often directed to men and women by God, His angels, or Jesus.

God has promised that, through the agency of His son Jesus, the world will once again become a place without fear for everyone. This has always been God's intention.

Isaiah chapter 35 in the Bible is a short and beautiful description of this promised time. Verse 4 is particularly relevant today:

“Say to those with fearful hearts, “Be strong, and do not fear, for your God is coming to destroy your enemies.  He is coming to save you.” (Isaiah 35:4 NLT)

If this sounds good to you, the Bible provides all the information for better days ahead!
