Water Cycle

We know that all life on this planet relies on water. Without it everything will eventually die. Our water cycle is called a ‘closed system’. That is, the same fresh water is continuously recycling; through evaporation, condensation and rainfall. Wind moves rain clouds all over the earth providing the distribution needed so it doesn’t all fall in the one place.

Mankind is having an impact on the water cycle. Here are a few examples I found online:

Temperature: Warmer global temperatures accelerate evaporation rates. This holds more water vapour in the air, resulting in more intense, heavy precipitation and severe weather events.

Land Use & Deforestation: Removing vegetation decreases transpiration (water released by plants), leaving soil dry, increasing surface runoff, and accelerating local warming.

Urbanisation: Roads, concrete, and buildings seal the ground, preventing infiltration. This creates fast polluted stormwater runoff instead of natural groundwater recharge.

I think we’ve all heard some of the dire warnings about global warming and climate change connected with these points above. It’s a bit of a worry!

Good news! There is a change coming for the better. I love this verse from the Bible, talking about Jesus coming back to the earth:

“He shall come down like rain upon the grass before mowing, Like showers that water the earth.”  (Psalm 72:6 NKJV)

To me this verse is gentle, calm and reassuring. It speaks of just the right amount. Everything we need – not just water, but an end to all problems and a world back in harmony, how it should be.

Your Bible gives all the details you need about this wonderful future!
