A short life

How do you know what your life will be like tomorrow? Your life is like the morning fog—its here a little while, then its gone.”  James 4:14 (NLT)

I was reminded of the truth of these words recently when visiting our grandchildren. How quickly they change! They have growth spurts, they lose their baby teeth, their features change – and suddenly standing before you is a tall teenager!

This ageing process is a little slower, or perhaps less noticeable in adults. Nevertheless, the grey hairs increase, as do the medical issues, whilst the physical capabilities diminish. There are a whole range of suggestions to help reduce the impact of ageing: a healthy diet, regular exercise and plenty of quality sleep to help repair the body, being just a few of the things you can do in this quest.

And there’s nothing wrong with looking after yourself, in fact it makes good sense. But we all know at the end of the day these things are not a permanent solution. We are mortal and will die.

The one and ONLY permanent solution is found in the bible. It’s God’s gift to us, if only we will stretch out our hands towards Him and accept it.
