Be still
I am awake.
It is dark, and really cold. Must be early. Go back to sleep.
Not happening. Too much going on in my brain. What time is it anyway? 4.30am. Noooooo! WAY too early to be awake.
Go back to sleep. Relax. Breath deeply. Sing some hymns. Count some sheep.
What day is it? Ah, Tuesday. What are we doing today?
Quiet brain! Relax and sleep. It is way too early.
I must remember to…
Must call…
What did I have to buy at the supermarket?
Oh this is ridiculous. 5.15am now.
Still too early and way too cold to get out of bed. Snuggle up and go back to sleep. Deep breaths. Think of the beach. On the exhale, let the waves take all those questions out to sea.
Nup. Not happening.
Be still and know that I am God.
Where did that spring from?
It IS my favourite bible phrase.
Be still (inhale)
And know that I am God (exhale)
And repeat.
Release all of those day-to-day questions, concerns, issues, on the exhale.
God IS in control.
He has a plan for us and this earth and when the time is right He will move to the next stage, the return of His son.
“He says, ‘Be still, and know that I am God...’” (Psalms 46:10, NIV)
