Powerful

A few weeks ago many suburbs of Melbourne, Victoria were affected by a strong storm that knocked down trees and power poles causing loss of power to many homes and businesses for days, some longer.

I've often thought how much we rely on power for most things we do, and as usual, being human, we just take everything for granted until it isn't there any more! 

I believe that God made everything by His ‘power’ and has given people the brains to do all the clever things we do, like harnessing electricity.

However, without God's power nothing would be kept going because He is the all ‘powerful’ creator of heaven and earth. We can read about this in the first book of the Bible. “In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth.” (Genesis 1:1, NIV)

The whole of Genesis chapter 1 is about everything God created including man and woman: “So God created man and woman in his own image created he them…” (Genesis 1:27, NIV)

Further on in the Bible there is a verse (and there are many others like it) that talks about God’s power. “Ah sovereign Lord, you have made heavens and earth by your great power and stretched out arm. Nothing is too hard for you” (Jeremiah 32:17, NIV)

We only need to pick up a bible and read it to find out all about our powerful God and his son Jesus, and the wonderful plan God has for the world he created with his ‘power’.
