Music
Music.
It’s amazing how many memories and feelings a song can evoke, isn’t it? How many couples do you know who have “their” song – a song that was popular when they first started going out? Music has the ability to make us happy, sad, excited, relaxed and so much more. It seems to transcend age, gender, race and status in life.
I think Stevie Wonder got it right in his song “Sir Duke” (circa 1976). The first verse reads:
“Music is a world within itself
With a language we all understand
With an equal opportunity
For all to sing, dance and clap their hands”
To me, the appreciation of music is another proof that God created us. The emotions produced by music are not something we needed to develop for survival; they are rooted in something more spiritual.
And God has promised that a time is coming when people will sing for joy at the wonderful changes He is going to bring to our world. For example:
“Those the Lord has rescued will return.
They will enter Zion with singing;
everlasting joy will crown their heads.
Gladness and joy will overtake them,
and sorrow and sighing will flee away.”
Isaiah 51:11 (NIV)
We all have the opportunity to be part of this happy time, I’m looking forward to it!
