Everybody hurts

The title of this blog is also the name of a song by the group REM (circa 1992). 

Some of the lyrics go like this:

“When your day is long

And the night, the night is yours alone

When you're sure you've had enough

Of this life, well hang on”

Almost everyone in the world has had their lives shaken up in the last two years, there are varying degrees of course, some lives have been turned upside down, others have sadly been lost altogether.

The song goes on:

“Don't let yourself go

'Cause everybody cries

Everybody hurts sometimes

Sometimes everything is wrong

Now it's time to sing along

Don't throw your hand, oh no

Don't throw your hand

If you feel like you're alone

No, no, no, you are not alone”

When everything feels hopeless, when we feel unheard, unimportant, alone and futile – don’t give up; we are not alone.

In Psalm 55:22 we’re told “Pile your troubles on God’s shoulders – He’ll carry your load, He’ll help you out. He’ll never let good people topple into ruin.” (The Message Bible)

We are not alone.

God has a plan, and He wants us all to be part of helping to put this crazy world right.
