When life gives you lemons

Here’s a couple of common sayings:

When life gives you lemons make lemonade.

There’s always someone worse off than you.

When things are ok in your life you may well see the good intentions behind both these sayings.  But what about when things aren’t going so ok in your life? If you’re anything like me you’ll see the first saying as moderately useful - after all it means making the best of any situation you find yourself in. But the second one is just downright irritating or worse. Yes, of course, there’s someone worse off, but that just begs the obvious follow on, that there’s always someone better off. And why isn’t it me? Like I said, not often helpful.

Here’s a saying though that to a Christian makes a great deal of sense - When life gives you lemons trust in God!

Consider this verse from God’s bible: “And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose.” Romans 8:28 (NIV)

In other words if you’re doing what God wants, everything will work out for the best because God wants to give His people eternal life. No sickness, accidents, sorrow or even death!

All this and much more is explained in God’s bible. Want to find out more; open it and read it!
