The voice

Australia is shortly to hold a referendum on a proposal that has become known colloquially as ‘The Voice’. In very basic terms, the proposition provides a legal mechanism for indigenous Australians to raise matters that concern them and their culture directly with the Government. Up to this point the thought has been expressed that they are not being heard.

As a Bible student, I can see a similarity here to God and His message not being heard. For 6,000 years, God has been telling all people that this world does not belong to us – it is simply on loan. He has sent angels, prophets and His only son to spread the news. After Jesus was put to death, God withdrew for a time – but He still ensured His message was published in the Bible and made available across the planet.

In very basic terms, God’s message reveals that He is going to take back the earth with His son Jesus as king. All the damage we’ve done will be repaired and true justice and peace will be delivered.

“Of the greatness of his government and peace there will be no end. He will reign on David’s throne and over his kingdom, establishing and upholding it with justice and righteousness from that time on and forever. The zeal of the Lord Almighty will accomplish this.” (Isaiah 9:7, NIV)

Each of us has a decision to make: do we want to be part of this or not? Sadly, not too many are listening to God’s message right now, but I’m hoping you will be different. The Bible is the key to hearing God’s voice. Please read it!
