Meaningless
Meaningless .
Not a word you would naturally associate with God.
But consider there words from God's Bible - "So I came to hate life because everything done here under the sun is so troubling. Everything is meaningless - like chasing the wind." (Ecclesiates 2:17 NLT)
The book was written by a man who had the opportunity to try everything which life had to offer him "under the sun". The man's name was Solomon. The book is the book of Ecclesiastes.
Read superficially, it is perhaps the bleakest book in the God's Bible. It concludes that life is meaningless, but there is an important caveat. The conclusion that life is meaningless is confined to a situation which is described as being "under the sun".
We on earth are under the sun. God, however, is not and that's the caveat.
The things to do with God are certainly not meaningless. What God has in store for the people who are interested and dedicated enough to go beyond the superficial is anything but meaningless. God's plan for those who care about Him and what He has to say in His Bible is also anything but meaningless.
With this in mind, Solomon's last words in this book are very interesting to read. Despite everything he has said he concludes this way - "That's the whole story. Here now is my final conclusion: Fear God and obey his commands, for this is everyone's duty. God will judge us for everything we do, including every secret thing, whether good or bad." (Ecclesiates 12:13-14 NLT)
God judging us implies a message elsewhere in the Bible which talks not just about judgement, but about a glorious future.
It's a future including us - if we are interested enough to find out about it!
A great place to start is to read the Bible.
