Trust
We recently had a power outage during a heat wave. No fans or air conditioners. No tea or coffee for the addicts. Youngsters starting their first day at school in sweltering conditions. And perhaps more importantly, for business especially – no internet. No banking. No cash registers in shops. No Siri and no AI.
What caused the outage? A vehicle accident? A tree branch come down in the blustery conditions? Or was it because of cutbacks by the company to increase their profits? Who knows how long it would take to come back on!
This led me to consider how reliant most of us are on electricity to power our modern technologies and in turn our lives. Take away that power and society comes to a standstill.
We know that many men and women in power have hidden agendas when making decisions and these are generally not for the good of all mankind. Can we trust them to keep their promises? Is seems not. The Bible tells us that mere mortals cannot be trusted in the long term.
“Don’t put your trust in mere humans. They are as frail as breath. What good are they?” Isaiah 2:22 NLT
So what or who can we trust in?
A modern translation of Numbers 23:19 reads -
“God is no mere human! He doesn't tell lies or change his mind. God always keeps his promises.” CEV
So it appears as though we can “Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and do not lean on your own understanding.” Proverbs 3:5 NIV
I believe God can be trusted to do all that He has promised. The Bible holds countless stories of things God has promised and then made happen. Check it out for yourself and see if you reach the same conclusion
