The meaning of life

Today in Australia is Good Friday, a day which has religious connotations because it is connected by many religions with the crucifixion of Jesus. It is therefore a sacred day of remembrance to many Christians.

I read an opinion piece which considered some of the varied ideas about the meaning of life. The impetus for this piece was Easter and the article covered a range of thoughts on what life means, from the certainty afforded by various religious beliefs, right through to the other end of the spectrum which suggests life is meaningless.

My view is that life has meaning but only through religion. I believe the Bible which tells me about God and His plan for humankind. Easter isn’t a trigger for me for these thoughts. They apply all year round.

Many Bible passages are relevant to the meaning of life and show that life is certainly not meaningless. Here’s just two.

‘Seek the Kingdom of God above all else, and he will give you everything you need. “So don’t be afraid, little flock. For it gives your Father great happiness to give you the Kingdom.”’ Luke 12:32-33 (NLT)

“… Here now is my final conclusion: Fear God and obey his commands, for this is everyone’s duty.” Ecclesiastes 12:13 (NLT)

There’s so much more for you to read in God’s Bible.
