Look up!
The world is a very uncertain place at the moment isn’t it? With the Middle East war effectively cutting off a large proportion of oil supplies, every country is feeling economic pressure. There’s talk of interest rate rises and a possible recession here in Australia. Every household is paying more just to live, and once the additional costs of transporting goods is passed on it will be worse again.
Two thousand years ago Jesus predicted world-wide worry and confusion such as we are experiencing today.
“The courage of many people will falter because of the fearful fate they see coming upon the earth, for the stability of the very heavens will be broken up.” (Luke 21:26 TLB)
When the Bible speaks about the heavens being broken up, it’s symbolic language representing confusion in both government systems and people who are in positions of power.
The good news is this confusion and trouble will not be allowed to continue indefinitely. Jesus goes on to say in this same chapter of the Bible:
“So when all these things begin to happen, stand straight and look up! For your salvation is near.” (Luke 21:28 TLB)
That’s all God wants us to do – look up! Instead of looking around at mankind for answers that won’t come, look with faith and trust to God. He’s sending Jesus back to the earth very soon to sort everything out. All the information is right there in your Bible!
