Habits
I am, like I suspect many people are, a creature of habit. Habit and routines.
I find my routines to be comfortable and I am consequently uncomfortable when they are disrupted.
It’s an interesting thing that habits are both comforting and stultifying at the same time. How can we solve this conundrum?
It’s a matter of mind set. If our routines and habits dull our minds to the point of tedium then this is a problem. How do we prevent this happening? In the book of Proverbs in God‘s Bible there’s an interesting piece of advice:
“As iron sharpens iron, so one person sharpens another.” (Proverbs 27:17 NIV)
This verse provides a big part of the solution to the problem posed above. It is talking about how essential it is to have interaction with others, and the nature of that interaction needs to be such that it sharpens our minds. That can help us right now, along with sensible habits.
But there is so much more to aim for in life than the maintenance of a set of habits and routines. As part of His plan for humankind, God has assured us that His son Jesus will return to this earth to solve all problems. This will be great won’t it? But there’s something else needed to enjoy an existence that is forever perfect. That essential additional ingredient is eternal life. God will provide that too.
The details are all in God‘s Bible for you and I to read.
