Main character syndrome
The phrase ‘main character syndrome’ has come about in recent years largely due to posting video clips on social media to gain followers.
Here is a snapshot of the definition from AI;
. Self-centered focus: Believing your feelings, problems, and goals matter more than anyone else's.
. Dramatisation: Romanticising routine daily tasks (like commuting or grocery shopping) as scenes in a film.
. Constant validation-seeking: Curating an aesthetic or sharing exaggerated life events online to maintain an audience.
Perhaps you know someone like this or even notice this behaviour in some of our world leaders. Basically, it means being selfish.
This is directly opposite to what the Bible teaches as the right way to live, as was clearly demonstrated by Jesus when he was on the earth.
“Do nothing out of selfish ambition or vain conceit. Rather, in humility value others above yourselves…” (Philippians 2:3 NIV)
Imagine what the world would be like if everyone behaved that way!
Jesus, who gave his life for all of us, is going to come back to the earth one day soon to make sure there is a major change for the better. Instead of selfishness, greed and violence, there will be peace and justice. The Bible contains all the details about this great time!
