Stones

Have you ever heard of the analogy of a stone representing your burden?

Well everyday worries can develop into everyday burdens and before you know it you have picked them up and popped them into your pocket like small stones.

You can quickly forget those stones are there. But every now and then, they can be sharp, uncomfortable and annoying. Then they stab you when you go to sit down and bruise you just leaning against them. They are very hard to let go of, but we must. Once we take those stones, that burden, out of our pocket and let it go, we have given that worry to God. As the Psalmist David  wrote “Cast your burden on the LORD, And He shall sustain you; He shall never permit the righteous to be moved.” Psalm 55:2 (NKJV)

So next time you go to pop a burden (stone) in your back pocket, remember that there is a wonderful God who loves us and wants us to trust in Him.

The book of Proverbs has this advice for us: “Trust in the LORD with all your heart; do not depend on your own understanding.” Proverbs 3:5 (NLT) Some words from the Apostle Peter give the same advice “casting all your care upon Him, for He cares for you.” 1 Peter 5:7 (NKJV)

So if you have a stone in your back pocket, don’t hesitate, cast it out and seek God.
