Don't look back
There was once a city called Sodom. It was a city that was filled with people that had lost their way and turned away from God. They became consumed in sinful deeds, apart from one righteous family, Lot’s family.
Lot and his wife and two daughters had moments to escape before God destroyed the city. They were told one thing. Don’t look back!
Sometimes it’s very hard to let go of memories, events and even our homes. And so it was with them. Even though they were told not to look back, Lot’s wife couldn’t let go, and she looked back. Because she didn’t obey, God turned her into a pillar of salt. You can read about these events in God’s Bible in the first book, in Genesis 19.
Turning back in her situation was pointless because God was destroying the city as they fled.
So us turning back at anytime is pointless also, because it only turns us away from God and His Hope.
The story of Lot’s wife is terribly sad, but one that can give us so much instruction.
So reach out to God and His hope today, and don’t look back, look forwards.
Here’s two verses to help you do this:
“Be strong and courageous.” (Deut 31:6 NIV)
“God is our refuge and strength, an ever-present help in trouble” (Psalm 46:1 NIV)
