Shadows

When I see prominent shadows I often think of this verse from God’s Bible: “Every good and perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of the heavenly lights, who does not change like shifting shadows.” (James 1:17 NIV)

The last few words in particular remind me of the huge difference between God and shadows. The shadows not only change constantly depending on the angle of the light, or the amount of light causing them; but come nightfall, they disappear completely.

God is the polar opposite. He is constantly with us and never changes in His plan with the earth. He created the earth and everything on it and He keeps us all alive. Everything we have is from God.

It’s good to be reminded of both these things when I see shadows like on the photo accompanying this blog. A daily event, provided the sun shines, which it doesn’t seem to be doing much of in Melbourne, Australia as I write this!

But finishing on a fully serious note - what God has offered us is wonderful beyond our current ability to comprehend. His plan is in His book, the Bible. It can help us in our life now but also promises a future which is forever. Conditions apply and they are clearly spelled out in the Bible.
