Storms

Recently there was a nasty storm where I live. Thunder, lightning, heavy rain and most destructive of all, hail. In some areas the hail was the size of cricket balls, smashing cars and houses. The repairs and clean up will take months, possibly even years.

The Bible tells a story of a great storm. Jesus was asleep in a boat, which his disciples were piloting across the sea of Galilee. These men were experienced sailors, but the storm became so fierce that they believed they were going to die. They woke Jesus up in a panic – here’s what happened:

‘When Jesus woke up, he rebuked the wind and said to the waves, “Silence! Be still!” Suddenly the wind stopped, and there was a great calm.’  (Mark 4:39 NLT)

Our world seems a bit ‘stormy’ doesn’t it? Violent crimes are on the rise, ongoing wars, political unrest, dire predictions about climate change – the list goes on.

The good news is that Jesus is going to once again ‘calm the storm’. He’s coming back to the earth to fix everything that’s wrong and make the world beautiful again.

“His government and its peace will never end.  He will rule with fairness and justice from the throne of his ancestor David for all eternity.”  (Isaiah 9:7 NLT)

The Bible tells us so much more about this wonderful time!
