Human nature
Australia has just experienced another horrific mass shooting. After the initial shock, people are now wanting to know how and why this happened. Were the perpetrators known to police? Could the Government have done more to prevent this? Reasonable questions, but not addressing the most fundamental question of all.
What makes any human being feel justified in taking another human life? If it’s self-defence, then the aggressor has obviously been okay with committing violence on another person. This is not a new occurrence. Humans have been killing each other either singly or en masse for thousands of years. Why?
Here’s what the Bible says: “Mankind heads for sin and misery as predictably as flames shoot upwards from a fire.” (Job 5:7 TLB)
It’s not something we face up to often. But the fact is, our very nature leans toward anger when provoked. Not only anger, but also greed and pride can cause humans to do things to others that are very unpleasant. God knows this and has a plan to stop the violence for good.
Human governments can’t fix the problem, but with God’s authority, Jesus Christ can. He’s coming back to the earth to make changes that will benefit everyone.
The Bible says, "The Lord will settle international disputes; all the nations will convert their weapons of war into implements of peace. Then at the last all wars will stop and all military training will end." (Isaiah 2:4 TLB)
“He will defend the afflicted among the people, save the children of the poor, and overwhelm the oppressor.” (Psalm 72:4 NCB)
The Bible has all the information we need about this wonderful time!
Please note: Our blog will close for a few weeks and resume, God willing, on January 23 next year. We wish everyone a happy and especially a safe holiday season.
