Slow down
I have a desk calendar with a saying or comment for each day of the year. One of these states: “In the Manic Society, we increasingly display what psychologists call ‘Type H’ behaviour. The H stands for Hurried, Hostile and Humourless.” (Author Unknown)
It’s so true, isn’t it? We see it on the road, at sporting events, at shopping centres and, increasingly, on social media. It seems to be desirable to be nasty.
My mind immediately went to a Bible verse from Psalm 46. Here’s what AI has to say about it: “‘Be still, and know that I am God’ is a powerful biblical phrase found in Psalm 46:10. It emphasises the importance of quiet contemplation and surrendering to God's presence to experience a deeper understanding of His nature and character. The phrase encourages believers to trust in God's sovereignty, even amidst chaos, and to recognise His authority and strength.”
I’m not a great user of AI, but on this occasion I think it hits the nail on the head. If we could all just slow down a bit and let God’s love into our lives, society as a whole would be better off.
Verses like this demonstrate the value God’s message in the Bible has for us. There is so much more to be found in it's pages about life now and in the future.
