Sincerity

I once had a boss who thought it was important to show his employees that he cared about them. So every Monday morning, he would go to each of his staff and ask how their weekend had been. The conversation would go something like this: “So how was your weekend?”  “Fine thanks.”  “That’s good.” – and move on to the next person.

One Monday however, he asked a staff member how their weekend had been. “My mother died,” she replied quietly.  “That’s good,” he said and went to move on before suddenly realising his mistake and trying desperately to back pedal.

Sincerity is so important because without it we lose trust and eventually respect. We can see this insincere behaviour in our world leaders today as promises are made and broken.

In the Bible, the Apostle Paul is telling Christians in the town of Ephesus that they were now new people. They had given up their old way of life and were now trying to please God and follow Jesus.

‘He says, “What this adds up to, then, is this: no more lies, no more pretence. Tell your neighbour the truth.”   (Ephesians 4:25 MSG)

This is just another example of excellent advice from the Bible on how to live in harmony with each other. It also tells about a great future coming soon!
