Rusted on

AI gives this definition: “Rusted on is an Australian slang term used to describe someone who is fiercely, stubbornly, and unshakeably loyal to a specific person, group, cause, or political party.”

This is why, in Australian social circles, it’s an unwritten law that politics and religion are not topics for discussion. There’s too much potential for heated arguments.

Jesus faced the same problem when he was on the earth. The spiritual leaders of his day were too invested in their traditions and position in society to hear his message. Then the chief priests and Pharisees convened a council to discuss the situation. ‘“What are we going to do?” they asked each other. “For this man certainly does miracles. If we let him alone the whole nation will follow him—and then the Roman army will come and kill us and take over the Jewish government.”’  John 11:47-48 (TLB) So, they acknowledged Jesus was performing miracles, but didn’t stop to think that perhaps this was because he had been sent by God. They were indeed ‘rusted on’!

We hope that you, our readers of these blogs, can overcome any previous bias and approach the Bible with an open mind. It actually contains a great hope for us all!
