Rain

Much of Australia needs rain after a long, hot summer.There have been severe bushfires in the States of South Australia and Victoria. Everything is dry, lawns are brown and gardens are wilting.

When the rain comes, as it inevitably does, it’s such a relief. You can literally see plants and grass springing back into life.  Water is indeed the liquid of life.

Jesus described himself as being able to provide water that would never leave us thirsty again. The story is found in John chapter 4 in the Bible, and Jesus was referring to the fact that through him God is offering all of us eternal life.

One of my favourite Bible verses is a prophecy about Jesus coming back to the earth, bringing with him that special water.

“He shall come down like rain upon the grass before mowing, Like showers that water the earth.”  (Psalm 72:6 NKJV)

Not too much, not too little – just the right amount to bring life back to a dry and thirsty world.
